1. POOL RULES AUTHORITY: THE FOLLOWING RULES ARE THOSE REQUIRED BY THE OKLAHOMA STATE/COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT. IT IS ANTICIPATED THAT THESE RULES MAY BE SUPPLEMENTED AT FUTURE DATE TO ADD ADDITIONAL RULES AS THE SCOA DEEMS NECESSARY.

2. THE RULES:

    A.  A Cleansing bath, using warm water and soap must be taken before entering the water.

    B.  Persons with open wounds, bandages, or any symptom of a communicable disease shall be prohibited from entering the water.

    C.  Persons that have had diarrhea in the past two weeks are prohibited in the water.

    D.  Swimming alone is prohibited.

    E.  At facilities, which do not have lifeguards on duty, children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult responsible for the supervision of that child.

    F.  All persons who are under the influence of an intoxicating liquor, or drugs are excluded from the public bathing facility.

    G.  No Animals allowed in the water.

    H.  Safety equipment is not to be used for play or tampered with.

    I.  Running and  rough play are prohibited in and around the water.

    J.  "Cut Offs" should be hemmed.

    K.  Excess body lotions should be removed prior to entering the water.

    L.  No glass container or food allowed in the area.  Put trash in waste containers.

    M.  DO NOT ENTER THE WATER IF THE MAIN DRAIN COVER IS MISSING OR NOT SECURELY ATTACHED.

    N.  DO NOT remove the main drain covers or grates.

    O.  NO swimming, diving, playing or snorkeling near the main drain.

    J.  Bathing load limit not to exceed forty three persons.

3.  COMMENTS AND OTHER INFORMATION:

   A. For emergency assistance, call 911. A phone is provided on the north inside entryway wall for this purpose. In the event such a call is necessary, provide responders with the following pool address: 232 Stone Creek Road, Midwest City, OK.  This address is posted both on the entry gate and the outside street curb.

   B.  POOL HOURS:  Typically, the pool will be open at 10 AM thru 9 PM each day of the week during the season.  However, it may be necessary for servicing or other safety/health reasons to close the pool for a time without notice.  In either  event, a sign will be posted at the top of the entry gate so stating.  Also, if practical, a notice will be posted on the Home Page of this web site advising the reason for closing and when re-opening of the pool is anticipated ( but not promised). When the sign is not present at the gate, it may be assumed the pool is open. THE SEASON TYPICALLY EXTENDS FROM MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND THRU THE LABOR DAY WEEKEND. HOWEVER, IT COULD BE ALTERED BY WEATHER OR OTHER CONDITIONS.

   C.  The person(s) responsible to the State and the SCOA for safe maintenance of the pool are the current Certified Pool Operator(s),(CPO's), and have full authority to enforce observed violations of the above rules, including ejection of any person(s) from the pool area. Such authority also attaches to any current SCOA Officer. CPO name(s) are posted by sign on the door to the equipment room along with telepone numbers. They should be notified in the event of any observed/suspected equipment malfunction, serious injury/drowining, egregious safety or behaviour violations, under age children are within the inside pool area without adult supervison, and observed vandalism by anyone or tresspass by non-members. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT A CPO IS IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED SHOULD IT BE NOTED THAT THE POOL HAS BEEN CONTAMINATED BY FECAL MATTER/VOMITING. THESE EVENTS REQUIRE THE POOL TO BE PROMPTLY CLOSED UNTIL REMEDIAL MEASURES HAVE BEEN COMPLETED.

   D.  The pool entry gate has been equipped with a magnetic lock to better control access to the pool and limit it to SCOA members in good standing and their guests. The lock has a read pad just below it both on the inside and outside. To gain entry or exit, one need only swipe the key horizontally and lightly across the key pad reader.  The lock releases for 7 seconds providing sufficient time to release  the mechanical latch (required by the State) and open the gate. Members should hold the gate open allowing entry/exit for their parties, then allow it to close by itself and latch. Please do not insert objects into the latch mechanism to defeat the latch as this will only cause us to be written up by the state if reported or observed by inspectors. The magnetic lock is very powerful and cannot be defeated without severly damaging the supporting stucture. When the pool is closed, the gate is secured by a padlock to insure security should electric power be lost or interrupted. A LARGE GREEN PLASTIC EXIT BUTTON HAS BEEN ADDED TO THE NORTH WALL OF THE POOL ENTRY AREA TO MAKE EXITING VIA THE ENTRY GATE EASIER FOR USERS (READING THE CARD IS NO LONGER NECESSARY TO RELEASE THE GATE). SIMPLY PUSH THE BUTTON WHICH WILL RELEASE THE MAGNETIC LOCK FOR 7 SECONDS. Members are cautioned not to press this button at the request of anyone outside the fence without a key in hand as this not only defeats the purpose of having the keys, but also permits the entry of members not in good standing with the SCOA.

WARNING: Please exercise care to insure that no ones (especially small children's) hands or fingers are placed between the lock pads when gate closes. The potential for serious injury may be present.

2. A single card key has been issued to each resident in good standing with the SCOA. Keys should be passed on to the  purchaser of a members property or a renter, otherwise a new key must be purchased.

3. Members are cautioned to treat the card key with care. Lost keys will cost ten dollars for a replacement. Each key is programed with a unique number for each SCOA address. Lost keys require deletion from the system to prevent a finder from using it. A replacement key costs SCOA 5 dollars each, plus the labor and time to program a new ID number and correct the SCOA records accordingly.

4. Life saving rings and devices are stored on the pool area fences for their obvious purposes. Rings have attached a long rope to assist in rescuing those in need of assistance. A long hook pole is also provided for the same purpose. These life saving tools are expensive and are not to be used as pool toys by anyone.

5. Members, please take home your pool toys when you depart the pool. It only adds labor and cost to remove these. Those left behind will be disposed of permanently.

6. Instances, observed or reported,of illegal entry, tresspass and/or vandalism will be dealt with harshly by the SCOA, MWC police and/or State, if and when identified, whether a SCOA member or not.

7. Members are encouraged to use and enjoy the pool and surrounding area. However, everyone must keep in mind, it is public in the sense that the rights of other members must be respected.  There is no prohibition against the type of drinks members may take into the pool area. There are, however, both MWC ordinances and State law prohibiting public intoxication. The SCOA will not be proactively police intoxication unless it becomes a real problem.  Members observing conduct that is offensive and/or illegal are encouraged to call the Midwest City police, and file a formal complaint with the ACC as necessary. The comment regarding intoxication goes for lewd conduct as well, and instances have been reported. No family should have to leave the pool for these types of violations.
